Pinellas County homeowners insured by Nationwide Insurance
face an average 29 percent increase in premiums, a bit
steeper than the state average, based on a county breakdown
released Wednesday by Florida insurance regulators.
Average rate increases for other area counties: 16.3
percent in Hillsborough, 28.9 percent in Pasco, 22.8
percent in Hernando and 3.8 percent in Citrus. Nationwide,
Florida's fourth-largest homeowners' insurer, received
regulatory approval to raise its rates statewide an
average of 21 percent on homeowners policies and 25
percent for mobile homes.
